Genealogy of the Kneip/Kanipe/Canipe Family
Learning where we came from is interesting to many people. The listings on these pages will provide the overview of where the earliest Kneip ancestors came from and how they first settled in the Colonies. Particular attention will be paid to the direct line of ancestors of Steve but this will have various lines of descendants from the first back in 1749 and even a lineage back to Germany. Users are advised to check their ancestral lines as these data have been accumulated from numerous sources. Many dates are missing and need to be added. Kneip/Knipe/Kanipe/Canipe Trees

The first Christian Kneip came to the Colonies in 1749 aboard the ship Ranier, captained by Officer Browning. It landed in Philadelphia in the colony of Pennsylvania. During these early years the last name got spelled differently from Kneip/Knipe/Kanipe/Canipe.
